About this grant
According to the Detroit branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), there is a definite relationship between policies that influence metropolitan growth patterns and disinvestment from Detroit and older suburbs. During the past three years, the Detroit branch has been increasingly involved in growth management issues and analysis.Multiyear funding will enable NAACP – Detroit Branch to work closely with Metropolitan Organizing Strategy Enabling Strength (MOSES) to encourage the faith community to participate in discussions about regional growth policies; host at least four workshops and two town hall meetings on issues related to regional growth, equity and race; develop citizen advocates for better land-use and urban policies in Michigan; and work with the Michigan Environmental Council, the Michigan Land Use Institute and others to articulate common concerns and voice a clear vision for the future.
