About this grant
This grant will support expanded coverage of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia to increase public understanding of the historic proceedings and engage people in a broader debate about the wars and conflicts in the region during the 1990s.Funding will enable the International Research & Exchanges Board to add more journalists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, and Serbia and Montenegro to the War Crimes Trials Coverage Project. With proceedings expected to continue until 2008, this project will ensure coverage of all major trials in The Hague. Journalists will rotate trial coverage over three-month periods and receive housing, a daily living allowance, access to computers and the Internet, and use of a satellite uplink to transmit live broadcasts to their home countries while stationed in The Hague.During the past two years, the project has supported more than 20 journalists from various countries.
