About this grant

This grant continues support for the Philanthropic Initiative for Racial Equity, a program of the Tides Center. Begun in 2003, the program’s goal is to build the amount and effectiveness of resources aimed at combating institutional and structural racism through capacity building, education, and convening grantmakers and grantseekers. A key goal for the next two years is to solidify a movement within philanthropy making racial equity a fundamental, ongoing part of this sector. Major activities include conducting workshops with regional associations of grantmakers, other funding networks, and issue-based and identity-based affinity funders; testing and assessing tools to measure impact of racial equity grantmaking; collaborating with partners to vet tools and resources to assist grantmakers; and producing papers and reports related to grantmaking issues in the field of racial equity.
