About this grant
This grant will enable the National Conference of State Legislatures to continue its work of educating state legislators about the value of afterschool and its contributions to current education policy. Objectives will include compiling and disseminating data from all 50 states on the status of afterschool funding; continuing to provide technical assistance to emerging and current statewide afterschool networks as a part of the Afterschool Technical Assistance Collaborative, a group of national organizations working to support the development of statewide networks through technical assistance; and overseeing collaborative efforts with the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers to provide intensive technical assistance on furthering afterschool policies with state leadership teams. Specifically, this collaborative effort will provide teams of state legislators, education chiefs and governor’s policy advisors with technical assistance opportunities to advance deeper connections between afterschool and improving public education.
