About this grant

This grant will continue to support the National Conference of State Legislatures in its work to educate state legislators about the value of afterschool and its contributions to the expanded learning opportunities conversation and other education policy discussions. Specifically, the National Conference of State Legislatures will: 1) produce a series of co-published materials, in partnership with the Harvard Family Research Project, that provide a neutral, nonpartisan summary of expanded learning opportunities research and policy implications; 2) establish an expanded learning opportunities listserv to increase electronic communications and share information with legislators; 3) provide technical assistance opportunities to legislators to promote deeper understanding of the significance of afterschool and its promises as a tool to meet state education goals; 4) co-implement and oversee the next round of Supporting Student Success grants; 5) continue support of the statewide afterschool networks through participation in the Afterschool Technical Assistance Collaborative; and 6) partner with the Council of Chief State School Officers and the National Governors’ Association on the Supporting Student Success project.
