About this grant

This grant will provide general purpose support to the Charities Aid Foundation-Southern Africa. The foundation promotes corporate and individual giving in South Africa and southern Africa with an emphasis on workplace giving and corporate matching gifts. In 2007-2008, the foundation ran volunteer programs for employees and over 12,862 hours were donated through its matching gifts programs. The foundation also distributed R5.63 million to nonprofit organizations, and advised on R12.5 million of corporate social investment funds. Over 350 nonprofits benefited from its work. During the next two years, the foundation will continue to promote giving and provide support services to business, government, and civil society to improve their planning and management of social development programs. It will also undertake research on relevant topics for the field and raise funds for grants to other nonprofits.
