About this grant
This grant will enable the YWCA of Greater Flint to build its capacity in race relations work and expand the reach of its racial justice initiatives. Since the launch of the Racial Justice Program in 2002, the YWCA has been working with local partners to support anti-racism initiatives throughout the community. Multiyear funding will enable the YWCA to hire a part-time support person; design an organizational assessment tool to allow organizations to examine their institutional policies and procedures related to diversity and inclusiveness; and develop a program and curriculum targeting young people that will address issues facing them and how they can promote anti-racism in the community.Recent achievements included 175 individuals participating in the Racial Justice Program; 293 individuals participating in the Challenging Racism workshop; establishing a facilitator training program to increase facilitators of the Challenging Racism curriculum; and piloting the Leaders Challenging Racism initiative.
