About this grant

This grant will partially support the replication of the Leadership Development in Interethnic Relations (LDIR) initiative in Flint. The initiative, developed by the Asian Pacific American Legal Center of Southern California, is a community-based leadership training program that complements other Genesee County initiatives that address race-related issues. The program builds awareness and skills to address issues related to race, ethnicity and other biases. Funding will support activities that include recruiting participants for the second training group; evaluating the skill level of volunteer facilitators; recruiting and training new volunteer facilitators; coordinating the second training session; designing and providing additional short-term and customized training sessions for various audiences; and providing follow-up training and support to LDIR alumni and community projects that have been created as a result of community members’ involvement in LDIR.Recent activities included training 15 local volunteer facilitators for the replication initiative; developing and implementing an outreach plan; and recruiting 29 workshop participants.
