About this grant
Since 2002, the University of Missouri – Columbia, with a number of stakeholders interested in helping move the afterschool field forward, has been developing a statewide afterschool network in Missouri. Multiyear funding will provide core support to the network and support efforts to promote policies and practices for school-based/school-linked afterschool programs. In addition, the network will work to align all afterschool providers and intermediaries in both focus and effort through quality standards and structured technical assistance. To date, support for sustainable quality afterschool programs has been procured through the work of four standing committees: Quality, Public Awareness, Policy and Advocacy, and Sustainability. The current structure of the committees has been identified by a cadre of network partners as the best way for the network to pursue its mission of providing a statewide system for the development, implementation and sustainability of high quality, safe, caring and nurturing afterschool programs.
