Rhode Island Statewide Afterschool Network

About this grant

This grant will support the United Way of Rhode Island which coordinates the Rhode Island Statewide Afterschool Network. The Rhode Island Statewide Afterschool Network will focus on building capacity for long-term success and advancing systemic change for afterschool and expanded learning in Rhode Island. Over the next three years, the network will seek to further institutionalize afterschool and expanded learning into the fabric of the education system in Rhode Island. The network’s specific initiatives will include: 1) developing a local ambassador program for afterschool and expanded learning to assist in raising awareness of the importance of expanded learning; 2) creating professional development opportunities that help afterschool and expanded learning programs further develop essential skills in the youth they serve; and 3) developing a statewide data system and measurement tools for the expanded learning field, including the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grantees.
