About this grant

This grant will enable the Afterschool Alliance to analyze, track, and promote the use of Title I Supplemental Educational Services, a new and growing funding stream. The purpose of Supplemental Educational Services is to ensure that students from low-income families increase their academic achievement, particularly in reading, language arts, and mathematics. Instruction must take place outside the regular school day, and afterschool programs are eligible service providers. In addition to monitoring the implementation of supplemental educational services, the Afterschool Alliance will inform the afterschool field on how states are administering supplemental services funds; gather and disseminate information to afterschool programs on how to become eligible and apply for these funds; and increase the number of afterschool programs on state lists of approved service providers.
