About this grant
YouthBuild USA (YouthBuild) is a national network of programs serving vulnerable youth. It provides training and technical assistance, and serves as an intermediary for local sites in its network and as an advocate for increased federal and state funding.Multiyear funding will enable YouthBuild to work toward strengthening the quality of existing programs; sustaining and expanding the number of programs; developing a network of graduates to serve as role models and leaders in the communities and nationally; increasing the impact on public policy and program practices affecting low-income youth and communities; and building its capacity as a technical assistance provider and leader in the education and workforce fields.Accomplishments during the past three years included providing technical assistance to 27 local programs; piloting a 30-site young ex-offenders demonstration program to encourage states to transfer funds from correctional facilities to comprehensive programs; spearheading the creation of the Campaign for Youth; and helping more than 50 local YouthBuild programs that are leading the way in bringing disadvantaged and underserved youth into national service through a partnership with the AmeriCorps program.
