About this grant
YouthBuild programs are regarded among many as one of the most comprehensive, well-targeted and inspiring programs for young adults who have dropped out of school and want to get back into a productive lifestyle. YouthBuild programs provide young adults a productive role in the community while also providing education toward a diploma, skills training toward a decent paying job, leadership development toward civic engagement and participation in a supportive environment with positive values.Multiyear funding will allow YouthBuild USA to strengthen the quality of existing programs; expand the number of programs; develop a network of YouthBuild graduates to act as role models and young leaders in their communities and nationally; increase the impact on public policy and program practices affecting low-income youth and communities; build partnerships with organizations in other countries that want to replicate the YouthBuild model; and continue to increase its capacity as a technical assistance provider and pro-active partner in coalition building.YouthBuild USA is a national network of YouthBuild programs that focus on bringing low-income disconnected youth back into positive engagement with their own lives and communities. Currently, there are 180 YouthBuild programs serving more than 6,000 young adults annually in low-income urban and rural U.S. communities.
