About this grant
The EastWest Institute’s Leadership Program works to strengthen regional security and cooperation and promote international integration in two strategic regions of the world — Central Eurasia and the Middle East. The program endeavors to reach these goals through the development of gender-balanced networks of new, transformational leaders from both regions. It provides participants with training, networking and mentoring opportunities, as well as access to small grants for collaborative action projects.Multiyear funding will support activities that include organizing annual Central Eurasia Learning Academies (CELAs) at Istanbul’s Koc University; training and networking an additional 80 leaders from Central Eurasia; planning reunions for the entire CELA network; maintaining the Web site; and distributing seed funds.Accomplishments to date included training 123 CELA fellows; organizing a four-day reunion of fellows from the first CELA; establishing a dedicated CELA Web site; launching a CELA seed fund; and setting up a CELA Network Fund.
