About this grant
The program goal is to further extend and embed the model of community schools in Ukraine. To date, the Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation has increased to over 800 the number of schools that are using or operating under community school principles. In-service teacher training institutes in all 27 of Ukraine’s regions provide systematic support for this expansion through training curricula developed by the grantee. In Lviv, the grantee’s efforts resulted in inclusion of community schools as a priority program area in the regional educational development strategy. In 2014-2016, the grantee will shift focus from expansion to consolidation and sustainability of community schools. It will advocate for adoption of international quality standards as a participatory monitoring tool for community school development. It will also seek adoption of further state-funded regional educational programs which include community schools at their core. The Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation was created as an independent foundation in 1999 with the aim of facilitating educational development and innovative educational initiatives in Ukraine.
