About this grant
The New America Foundation’s Asset Building Program seeks to broaden access to economic resources through increased savings and asset ownership, thereby providing families with enhanced economic security, a potential pathway out of poverty, and the means to pursue their aspirations. To advance this vision, the program conducts policy research, develops policy ideas, educates policymakers, and communicates the benefits of asset building to diverse audiences including journalists, program administrators, and the general public. This renewal grant will support the grantee’s efforts to promote children’s savings account programs and policies primarily across states. The specific activities proposed for the grant period include: 1) working with state and local stakeholders to develop and promote children’s savings account policy ideas; 2) highlighting children’s savings account program design and implementation best practices; and 3) advancing policymakers’ understanding and leadership of children’s savings account strategies. The New America Foundation is a public policy institute whose purpose is to bring new voices and ideas to the fore of America’s public discourse by investing in outstanding individuals and ideas that transcend the conventional political spectrum.
