About this grant
The goal of the Mid South IDA Initiative is to expand access to individual development accounts (IDAs) for low- and moderate-income families living in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and southeast Texas. Created in 2002, the initiative works to strengthen the capacity of nonprofit organizations throughout the region to provide IDAs and vital financial education to thousands of families.Multiyear funding will enable the initiative to award capacity building, leadership and/or technical assistance grants to existing and emerging IDA programs in the region; coordinate effective practices trainings; host regional networking meetings and conferences; and advocate for relevant policies at the state level.Recent accomplishments included establishing statewide asset collaboratives in the mid-south region; supporting the growth and expansion of previously established IDA programs; helping create new IDA programs in areas of great need; and developing and implementing a communications strategy to highlight the initiative and attract buy-in from potential partners.
