About this grant
The Strategy Center, located in Saint Petersburg, is a public policy institution that links community initiatives and non-governmental organization (NGO) advocacy efforts with public policy development in the areas of human rights, corruption prevention, budget transparency, local self-government and regional nonmilitary security threats.Multiyear funding will enable the center to continue its educational and public awareness work as well as strengthen other public policy institutions by developing a network of interaction and cooperation among Russian public policy centers; systematizing existing and developing new social technologies; encouraging cooperation between public policy centers, universities and academic communities; and refining strategies of fundraising in the areas of civic awareness, human rights protection and local community development.Recent accomplishments included designing and organizing several educational courses for federal and regional Russian human rights commissioners and their staff; developing methods of applied budget analysis specific to Russian municipalities; and organizing a series of seminars and a conference for elected representatives, civil servants, law enforcement authorities and NGO leaders on corruption prevention strategies.
