About this grant

An evaluation of a manufacturing institute demonstration by the Workforce Strategies Initiative (WSI) at the Aspen Institute will examine the effectiveness of industrial trade associations as workforce training intermediaries in implementing sector employment programs for low-income individuals. The project was created to explore ways to achieve a wider variety of sectoral programming and provide more opportunities to low-income Americans. Funding will enable WSI to document how the demonstration is implemented and operates; provide site operators and key stakeholders with ongoing information useful for improving the program site’s operations; and analyze the activities and accomplishments of the demonstration to discern implications for the field and publish a final report on the findings. The Aspen Institute, an international network of independent, coordinated centers in Europe, Asia and the United States, works to develop practical leadership in today’s world.
