About this grant

To help low-income individuals in the San Francisco area, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Foundation (SFCCF) developed an entry-level paraprofessional training program, including skills upgrade training and one-on-one career advancement counseling. This program helps workers and their families move out of poverty.Multiyear funding will support efforts to evaluate and improve the program; institutionalize the program within the legal community and bar association; and assess demand and resources required to develop an occupational-specific, career ladder-training program in legal paraprofessional services. Goals of the project include training between 32 and 48 paralegals; involving at least 12 legal employees in the process; encouraging the Bar Association to promote the program; helping 65 percent of program graduates receive raises; and helping 55 percent of program graduates receive promotions.SFCCF is the charitable arm of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. It includes several programs connecting the business sector and the community.
