About this grant
Four years ago, Wisconsin Citizen Action Fund (WCAF) launched a project to build a statewide coalition for education improvement in Wisconsin. The project focused on recruiting and training parents and residents in low-income school neighborhoods to become effective advocates for improving education in their communities. Multiyear funding will enable WCAF to expand its efforts to secure sustainable funding for 21st Century Community Learning Centers; add a component to its Milwaukee-based organizing work; work to protect school funding; address the issue of truancy; improve high school graduation rates; develop new leaders; increase the involvement of the Faith Based Caucus in education organizing; and provide training to staff.
