About this grant

In the late 1980s, local community organizations affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) began combining resources and launched the Interfaith Education Fund (IEF), an alliance of community organizations in seven states created to meet the shared needs of local IAF-affiliated organizations.Multiyear funding will enable IEF to build the capacity of local community organizations and support the formation of statewide alliances. Specifically, IEF organizations will be working to revitalize the Alliance Schools Project.Recent accomplishments included creating a state fund in Texas for indigent health care; expanding coverage for children eligible for the children’s health insurance program; establishing a fund for long-term job training for Temporary Assistance to Needy Families recipients; and opening a new office of the Mexican Consulate to work with Mexican immigrants in the states where IEF is active.
