About this grant
This grant continues support to the U.S.-Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership, formed in 2002, in order to expand philanthropy and improve the quality of life in the U.S.-Mexico border region. Currently, 19 community foundations are members of the partnership. Over the past five years, members have shared best practices, learned together about important border issues, leveraged almost $20 million to strengthen their institutional capacities and support programs in their border communities, and developed cross-border ties. In its next phase, the partnership plans to become an independent nonprofit organization. Its membership base will expand to include not only community foundations but also other types of border philanthropic institutions, programs, and individuals. The International Community Foundation will take a leadership role in transitioning the partnership from a Synergos Institute-managed project to a new entity and also act as the partnership’s fiscal sponsor until the new entity becomes fully incorporated.
