About this grant
This grant will support a project to improve the nonprofit sector’s ability to access and manage federal grants. Created by the Focus Project – better known as OMB Watch – the Strengthening Nonprofit Fiscal Sustainability, Accountability and Civic Participation project focuses on two areas: streamlining the grant process and implementing the Federal Financial Assistance Management Improvement Act; and educating nonprofits about state and federal rules governing advocacy activities.Funding will enable the project to address policy advocacy issues. Activities will include conducting a follow-up survey of nonprofits about the Web site www.grants.gov; publishing a two-volume guide to the advocacy rules that accompany federal funding; developing dissemination, marketing and training plans for the guide; and researching state-by-state grant rules. During the first two years of the project, activities focused on the grant streamlining component, which was designed as a partnership between OMB Watch and the Urban Institute’s National Center for Charitable Statistics.
