About this grant

The Center for Effective Philanthropy provides management and governance tools to help foundations define, assess and improve overall performance. In the spring of 2003, the center began the first phase of the Foundation Governance Project in order to help community foundation leaders better understand the performance of their foundations. This grant will provide general support to the center as it launches Phase III of the Foundation Governance Project; pilots a new initiative that studies foundation strategy development; continues to mine grantee perception data and publish a second report; expands the use of various assessment tools; continues to promote publications, research and assessment tools through its newsletter and presentations at national and regional conferences; and hosts a conference that will explore the challenges of improving foundation performance.
