About this grant

Pacific Environment’s Responsible Finance Campaign promotes environmental and social policies among public and private international finance institutions. The principal focus of its work is on the oil, gas, mining, and forestry investments made in the Pacific Rim region. Pacific Environment has successfully persuaded international lending institutions to be more open, accountable, and responsive to community concerns. Over the grant period, it will emphasize project-specific monitoring, particularly of the Sakhalin II oil and gas project in the Russian Far East. In addition, this renewal grant will support Pacific Environment’s increased efforts to reform Japanese financing agencies, continued leadership role in international export credit reform efforts, and expanded focus on international private bank reform.
