About this grant

This grant promotes democratization, decentralization, and cooperation among states and ethnic groups in the Western Balkans. The Center for Regionalism works with other nongovernmental organizations, political and civic leaders, and government officials to develop and implement initiatives addressing specific cross-border issues and facilitating dialogue among ethnic, religious, and national groups. In 2005-2006 the grantee organized five regional meetings of government officials and nongovernmental organizations to promote the normalization of political, economic, and cultural relations among Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia; helped to reestablish links between nongovernmental organizations in Serbia proper and Kosovo through exchanges and study visits; and organized community-based, roundtable discussions on issues of responsibility, truth, justice, and reconciliation relating to the wars of the last decade. The center is based in Novi Sad, Serbia, and works closely with organizations in Bosnia, Croatia, and Kosovo on a range of activities.
