About this grant

This grant promotes democratization, decentralization, and cooperation among states and ethnic groups in the Western Balkans. During 2009-2010, the Center for Regionalism will support regional cooperation and reconciliation through a range of mutually reinforcing initiatives, including organizing meetings and working groups to address specific issues of common concern among Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Serbia; strengthening a regional association of multiethnic towns and cities; and initiating and participating in activities to enable people in Serbia and the region to deal with the past. In 2007-2008, the grantee organized regional meetings of government officials and nongovernmental organizations to promote the normalization of political, economic, and cultural relations among Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia and helped to reestablish links between nongovernmental organizations in Serbia and Kosovo through exchanges and study visits. The center is based in Novi Sad, Serbia.
