About this grant
The Project for Conflict Resolution and Development works in the Eastern Cape province conducting research and designing and facilitating processes that enable disadvantaged and at-risk communities and community-based organizations to better deal with conflict and transformation. With prior Mott funding, the project provided training and support to ward committees, the formal structures through which communities participate in local government in various municipalities and districts of the Eastern Cape. Past activities also included conducting good governance surveys in local municipalities and training and mentoring mediators on conflict resolution. This renewal grant will support continuation of capacity- building activities for ward committees, community development workers, and community-based organizations for several municipalities in the Eastern Cape. It will also provide training and support for the resolution of conflicts within communities.
