About this grant

This grant will enable Pacific Environment to provide technical assistance and training to environmental organizations in the Russian Far East and Siberia. Pacific Environment is an American-based nonprofit that works to build the organizational capacity of key Russian environmental groups.Multiyear funding will support activities to strengthen the financial independence and long-term stability of key Russian partner organizations; build the skills, knowledge base and expertise of Russian civil society activists to address environmental issues; encourage greater collaboration among Russian environmental and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs); enhance the organizational capacities of partner organizations; expand information resources for partner organizations to increase their knowledge base, expertise and credibility; and provide direct funding to Russian civil society partners to help stabilize their programs.During the past two years, Pacific Environment assisted Russian NGOs by expanding research and information resources; promoting closer collaboration among Russian regional, national and international civil society groups; organizing exchange programs with Canada; providing ongoing technical assistance; working with Russian partners to reform international finance institutions; and offering direct funding through a regranting program.
