About this grant
This grant will provide continued support to the Mott Foundation Leadership Academy, created in 2001 to help youth gain teamwork and leadership skills that will enable them to succeed in school, at work and in personal relationships. The leadership academy serves approximately 300 young people.Funding will enable the Genesee Area Focus Fund to operate the academy, based at Kettering University, beginning in June and lasting eight weeks. Each student will attend the program once a week and donate three days to a large-scale community service project of their choice, with all participants graduating at one daylong event. In addition, the opportunity to participate in two arts-related workshops at the Flint Cultural Center will be available to all students.
