About this grant

This grant will enable Per Scholas to continue participating in the Sectoral Employment Impact Study, a random assignment performance evaluation to determine the impact that sectoral employment training has on the employment, job retention and earnings of low-income participants. Results of the study will be used to inform public policy.Funding will support objectives that include enrolling 225 participants in the treatment group and 225 in the control group; completing training activities for the treatment group; providing job search and placement assistance to all enrollees; and offering follow-up services to all participants to ensure job retention and provide help, as needed, for re-employment and job advancement in the information technology industry.Since 2003, Per Scholas has trained more than 800 individuals, with more than 80 percent of the graduates obtaining jobs with annual starting salaries between $20,000 to $24,000 at major banks, law firms, corporations and agencies.
