About this grant
This grant supports a vibrant and important network of nine human rights organizations in Croatia, called the Coalition for Promotion and Protection of Human Rights. Coalition members share a common mission to monitor and promote the implementation of rights and protections guaranteed by the constitution and laws of Croatia as well as international treaties and standards. The coalition facilitates cooperation among members with the goals of developing their skills and building their capacities; addressing public policy issues affecting their beneficiaries; exchanging information; accessing new financial resources; and collaborating with other nongovernmental organizations, government bodies, and international organizations. In 2005-2006, the coalition continued advocacy initiatives aimed at improving the availability of free legal services for indigent people in Croatia, monitoring minority rights protection, and improving decisionmaking processes within the coalition. The coalition is separately registered and has a small staff based in Osijek.
