About this grant
This grant supports the development of a vibrant and important network of nine human rights organizations in Croatia, called the Coalition for Promotion and Protection of Human Rights. During the grant period, the coalition will monitor and report on the implementation of rights protection mechanisms; educate and raise awareness of the public on the importance of respecting human rights; and build the capacity of coalition members and other nonprofits involved in the protection of human rights in Croatia. In 2007-2008, the coalition continued advocacy initiatives aimed at improving the availability of free legal services for indigent people in Croatia, monitored and issued reports on minority rights protection, strengthened cooperation with relevant Croatian government bodies, and launched its Web site. The coalition has a small staff based in Osijek, Croatia, and is well networked with other nonprofits nationally and internationally.
