About this grant

The Eastern-Hungarian Community Service Foundation was established in 1995 to provide a wide variety of services to local communities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in eastern Hungary. It coordinates the activities of the Prohalo network of 18 nonprofit support centers in Hungary. Prohalo helps the nonprofit support centers fulfill their missions, promotes cooperation among support centers and represents their interests at the national level.Multiyear funding will support activities that include developing the capacity of individual network members to provide more effective services to their target groups at the county level; strengthening the Prohalo network’s internal communications, development capacity and cooperation among members; and increasing Prohalo’s external communication capacity to strengthen its position in the Hungarian nonprofit sector.During the past two years, accomplishments included raising the network’s profile; and promoting the development of the Hungarian nonprofit sector by placing six network members in the Presidium and Committees of the National Civic Fund, the largest public grantmaking body in the country.
