About this grant

This grant will enable the International Relations Center to continue exploring policy options for development and integration in the Americas that are both workable and grounded in the principles of environmental protection, sustainable and equitable economic development, multilateralism, and respect for human rights.Multiyear funding will support activities that include providing analysis and information on environment and trade through trilingual publications; disseminating information and views on environment and trade from a variety of sources; expanding outreach to new readers, including specialized audiences; producing reports on the impacts of globalization in the Latin America region, and profiles of citizen responses and alternatives; and encouraging the development of citizen-based environmental initiatives for the Americas.To date, accomplishments included producing four policy briefs related to trade and the environment; seven profiles describing citizen-based responses to the impacts of trade liberalization; 16 commentaries/opinions written by activists, scholars and journalists; six papers analyzing specific policies related to trade and the environment; and 13 investigative reports covering various issues.
