About this grant

In recent years, progress toward securing peace and stability has been made in the Western Balkans. The challenges to fostering democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina are ensuring that citizens have the ability to participate constructively and that they feel their elected representatives are acting on their behalf in decisions that affect their lives and communities. The Forum of Tuzla Citizens works to promote local democracy development in the community of Tuzla, in central Bosnia.Multiyear funding will enable the organization to foster the development of local democracy; strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina as a stable, multiethnic and democratic state; and promote regional and cross-border cooperation among Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia and Montenegro. The organization, founded in 1993, is an independent, nonpartisan, non-governmental organization that works in Tuzla and surrounding villages, nationally and internationally.
