About this grant

This grant will enable Michigan Community Foundations’ Ventures to continue efforts to develop the statewide marketing strength of community foundations in Iowa, Maryland and South Carolina. Based on a model developed in Michigan and California, the program builds the capacity of existing and emerging regional associations to assist their states’ community foundations to deliver effective marketing.Funding will support activities that include providing matching funds of $15,000 to community foundation marketing efforts in all three states; organizing an annual state meeting; offering monthly coaching and technical assistance to marketing leaders in each state; and convening an annual meeting with peers from California, Michigan and North Carolina, and the three target states to share lessons learned.Recent activities included developing Web sites, electronic newsletters and presentations in all three target states; sharing experiences and learning with fellow practitioners at the Council on Foundations’ 2004 Fall Conference; and establishing a Web site as a repository for regional work and as a tool to exchange ideas and progress toward goals.
