About this grant
Community Connections was initiated in 2000 by a group of volunteer community workers to support community-led development through strengthening the capacity of community-based organizations to transform society. It provides organizational development training and technical assistance to build the institutional capacity of community-based organizations in the Western Cape province in South Africa. It primarily supports nonprofits focused on local economic and community development, HIV/AIDS, early childhood development, women empowerment, arts and culture, the environment, youth, and poverty eradication. Previous support from the Mott Foundation assisted the grantee to train, mentor, and support community organizations and to promote networking between community organizations and local government. This renewal grant will support the grantee to continue providing organizational development support and training to community-based organizations in the Western Cape province. It will also provide materials and information through its resource center, which it makes available to community workers and community-based organizations.
