About this grant
Community Connections was established in 2000 by a group of community workers to promote community-led development in the Western Cape province in South Africa. It supports community-based organizations so that they are able to drive development within their communities. The grantee has achieved this by implementing various initiatives that promote active civic participation and amplifying the voice of ordinary citizens. Over the past two years, the grantee piloted the Integrated Community Development Program, which fosters and grows community activism and translates it to tangible improvements in the daily lives of poor people. It also provided organizational development support to community-based organizations with a strong emphasis on their connectedness to the communities they serve. This grant will support the grantee to expand its work to other communities, conduct learning events for community-based organizations, train community workers as community development facilitators, and strengthen its new organizational structure.
