About this grant

Ecoa – Ecology and Action has worked for nearly 20 years to protect and promote sustainable development in the Pantanal and Cerrado regions of the upper ParanĂ¡ River basin, as well as the Amazon region in Brazil. Through this renewal grant, Ecoa – Ecology and Action will continue to lead a coalition of organizations monitoring the environmental impacts of new and proposed investments in energy and infrastructure in this region. This coalition will work with communities to identify local concerns and bring those concerns to the international public and private investors in order to change projects with serious environmental and social impacts. The grant will also support additional research on the expansion of biofuels production in the region, which will ensure that Latin American organizations will be an integral part of global discussions on standards and safeguards for biofuel development.
