About this grant
Planact supports community processes that enhance good governance at the local level and facilitates engagement between communities and their local governments for improved service delivery. Mott supported Planact to train and support civil society organizations and ward committees in poor and marginalized communities in the Gauteng province to enable them to participate in municipal planning processes. Planact also supported municipalities to effectively engage communities in decisionmaking processes that affect their lives and conducted research aimed at enhancing its work. This grant will support Planact to continue to train and support ward committees, municipal councilors, government officials, and community members on community participation and other topics related to good governance. Research and advocacy will also be undertaken to draw lessons from its work in order to improve on its intervention strategies and to share these lessons with relevant policymakers.
