About this grant
Recently, there has been an increased interest in afterschool programs across the country and the resulting growth of programs has greatly expanded opportunities for children and youth. Despite differences regarding local needs and interests, the programs share common goals, but depend on the availability of an infrastructure that provides access to high-quality training, technical assistance and mentorship, and links organizations together. Multiyear funding will enable School’s Out Washington, a project of the YWCA of Seattle-King County-Snohomish County, to establish the Washington Statewide Afterschool Network. Network goals include fostering statewide, regional and local partnerships; securing resources needed to sustain new and existing afterschool programs; and ensuring that afterschool programs are of high quality.School’s Out Washington provides services and guidance for organizations to ensure that all young people have safe places to learn and grow when not in school. This is one of 18 current grants supporting statewide afterschool networks.
