About this grant
Recently, there has been an increased interest in afterschool programs across the country and the resulting growth of programs has greatly expanded opportunities for children and youth. Despite differences regarding local needs and interests, the programs share common goals, but depend on the availability of an infrastructure that provides access to high-quality training, technical assistance and mentorship, and links organizations together in a well-designed state network.Multiyear funding will enable the Children’s Hunger Alliance, in partnership with the Action for Children, to establish a statewide afterschool network in Ohio. Network goals include increasing the quantity and quality of afterschool programs in Ohio; raising awareness and support for afterschool programs; establishing a statewide system; and developing a sustainability plan for the network. The Children’s Hunger Alliance was created to advocate for and educate the public on issues of domestic hunger. This is one of 18 current grants supporting statewide afterschool networks.
