About this grant
Recently, there has been an increased interest in afterschool programs across the country and the resulting growth of programs has greatly expanded opportunities for children and youth. Despite differences regarding local needs and interests, the programs share common goals, but depend on the availability of an infrastructure that provides access to high-quality training, technical assistance and mentorship, and links organizations together. Multiyear funding will support the Massachusetts Statewide Afterschool Network. Network goals include developing and increasing public and private revenue streams for afterschool care for all children and youth in Massachusetts; building a statewide system that will promote and nurture regional and local partnerships; and promoting high quality in all state afterschool programs. The Massachusetts School-Age Coalition was created in 1998 to serve as a voice for change in the out-of-school time field. It works to ensure a comprehensive system of out-of-school time opportunities for children, youth and families. This is one of 18 current grants supporting statewide afterschool networks.
