About this grant
In line with their Flint Uptown Reinvestment Strategy, created by Sasaki Associates, the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation (URC) seeks residential, commercial and retail redevelopment in both rehabilitated buildings and new construction. Recently, property fitting these specifications has become available.Funding will enable the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation to purchase the property and maintain it for one year. While a specific use for the property has not yet been identified, the URC believes that it can be effectively utilized in accordance with the Sasaki plan, as well as with ongoing redevelopment efforts.URC was established in 1999 as a joint initiative of the Genesee Area Focus Council and the Flint Downtown Development Authority. Its mission is to pursue a downtown redevelopment strategy incorporating both private and public partners.
