About this grant
Flint Youth Theatre (FYT), created in 1957 as part of the Flint Community Schools’ Mott Adult Education Program, is a nationally recognized professional theater serving Flint area residents, including 48,000 students annually. In 2003, FYT became a member institution of the Flint Cultural Center Corporation (FCCC), which also includes Bower Theater, Longway Planetarium and Sloan Museum.Multiyear funding will support efforts to build a permanent endowment of more than $4 million to provide sustainable, operational support for FYT. The Foundation for the Flint Cultural Center, established by the Community Foundation of Greater Flint in 2000, was created as a supporting organization to manage endowment funds awarded on behalf of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, as well as FCCC, the FCCC Children’s Fund, FYT, the Flint Institute of Music and the Flint Institute of Arts.
