About this grant
The Flint Institute of Arts (FIA) operates in the DeWaters Art Center on the Flint Cultural Center campus. Its annual programs and services include a museum art school with studio classes in all media, educational outreach programs, traveling exhibitions, chamber music concerts, family-oriented events and docent-led tours. Multiyear funding will support a renovation project to expand classroom and studio space, improve public areas and meeting rooms, and upgrade storage and display of FIA collections. Funding will provide partial operating support during construction.FIA, founded in 1928, provides art programs and services to an estimated 85,000 Flint area residents. It serves more than 30,000 school children annually through four educational programs: the Museum Art School, Gallery Lessons, Studio Programs and ArtReach.
