About this grant

The Flint Institute of Arts (FIA), located in the DeWaters Art Center on the Flint Cultural Center campus, provides Flint area residents with art programs and services through its museum art school, traveling exhibitions, chamber music concerts, family-oriented events and docent-led tours. Multiyear funding will support the first phase of a plan to renovate and expand the art center, including 16,000 square feet of new space; relocation of art storage and office space; improvements to entrances, connecting corridors and public space; improved mechanical systems; and remodeling of 15,000 square feet of studio space. The goal of the project is to better serve more Flint area residents, especially students. The Flint Cultural Center Foundation was created by the Community Foundation of Greater Flint in 2000 as a supporting organization of the Flint Cultural Center institutions.
