About this grant

The Flint Institute of Music has its origin dating back to 1917 and offers the community a wide array of music, dance, and theater through the Flint School of Performing Arts, Flint Symphony Orchestra, and Flint Youth Theatre. While primarily serving residents of Genesee County, more people from throughout mid-Michigan are taking advantage of its world-class programming. During the past year, over 270,000 children and adults attended concerts and plays, received instruction, or participated in other programming, both on the campus and through outreach activities. This grant will support ongoing efforts to provide opportunities for people of all ages and income levels to experience live music, dance, and theater performances as well as receive instruction, from beginners to advanced, in these same disciplines.
